Train2Wind is a PhD and researcher training school analysing entrainment in offshore wind farms. The main aim is to investigate the inflow of new momentum into very large wind farms. Since 2020, Train2Wind educated 19 fellows - 13 PhDs and 6 short-term fellows —providing 540 person-months of funded research to address the growing need for trained professionals in the offshore wind industry and academia.
As a Marie Sklodowska Curie action, Train2Wind addresses the critical question of how much offshore wind power we can build together before it seriously affects the common wind resource in the area. The project involves 13 PhD students and 6 short-term fellows who collaborate using advanced computer modeling, satellite measurements, unmanned aerial systems, lidars, and wind tunnel modeling to understand the details of the entrainment mechanism of momentum transfer into large offshore wind farms.
